Chris Militzer, photo editor for Alexandria Living Magazine, had heard of Colonial Beach; he’d taken his daughter camping in nearby Westmoreland State Park numerous times.
But it wasn’t until he started seeing photos of the Town on Instagram and Twitter–gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, sandy beaches and marinas, and more–that Chris decided to have a look for himself.

In addition to hotels, motels, inns, B&Bs and vacation rentals, Colonial Beach has traditional camping facilities where you can park your RV or pitch a tent. But for those seeking more luxurious accommodations in the great outdoors, there’s “glamping.”
