Megan Wilson planned to stay in Colonial Beach, Virginia, for only one night. But, like so many visitors to CBVA, the writer for Richmond Magazine fell in love with our little town, extending her stay through the weekend.

Chris Militzer, photo editor for Alexandria Living Magazine, had heard of Colonial Beach; he’d taken his daughter camping in nearby Westmoreland State Park numerous times. But it wasn’t until he started seeing photos of the Town on Instagram and Twitter–gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, sandy beaches and marinas, and more–that Chris decided to have a look for himself.

In addition to hotels, motels, inns, B&Bs and vacation rentals, Colonial Beach has traditional camping facilities where you can park your RV or pitch a tent. But for those seeking more luxurious accommodations in the great outdoors, there’s “glamping.”

The duo recently made a stop in Colonial Beach, Virginia, chronicling their trip in the  latest video on their YouTube channel, Boating Chesapeake.

Writer Carrie Dykes discovered that “There’s more to Virginia wine country than just the vineyards.” In her article for Wine Enthusiast, Travel Off the Beaten Path in Virginia Wine Country, Carrie mentions Ingleside Winery as a notable one in the area, but it’s the baby goats at Westmoreland Berry Farm that really captured her attention.
