Colonial Beach’s northern neighbor, Prince William County, is home to ten military installations in or around the County. Altogether, nearly 800,000 veterans and over 115,000 active duty and reserve members of the military reside in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Chris Militzer, photo editor for Alexandria Living Magazine, had heard of Colonial Beach; he’d taken his daughter camping in nearby Westmoreland State Park numerous times. But it wasn’t until he started seeing photos of the Town on Instagram and Twitter–gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, sandy beaches and marinas, and more–that Chris decided to have a look for himself.

The duo recently made a stop in Colonial Beach, Virginia, chronicling their trip in the  latest video on their YouTube channel, Boating Chesapeake.
